Word of the Week: RESET- part 2 - Parenting
Word of the Week: RESET- part 2
This week my word is RESET in parenting.
As an adult or parent go back to part 1 of the word of the week – RESET
Resetting in Parenting
For parents — especially those supporting children who struggle — reset is powerful.
Last week we looked at the definition for reset.
Reset is a noun that means - A conscious decision to begin again without shame.
We need to remember when working with our children there is no shame no embarrassment in needing to begin again. We should try to encourage our children to take a pause when things get tough. Reset is not a sign of weakness but an opportunity to rethink and re-evaluate our process.
There is strength in recognising when it is time.
A hard homework session does not define the week.
A meltdown does not define your child.
A frustrated moment does not define you.
You can reset the tone.
You can say, “Let’s try again.”
You can apologise.
You can breathe.
Children learn resilience not from perfection, but from watching adults reset with calm and compassion.
And sometimes the most important reset in the home is the one that begins with the parent.
